The 48 V Hybrid Project with a big automobile manufacturer.

A more compact, more powerful solution.

The Challenge

The automobile manufacturer needed a 48 V onboard wiring simulation for a new development. The customer already had a TopCon 10.52.400.S – purchased from Schulz-Electronic – and a big EA load available, but due to the new requirements these had to be replaced by a more compact solution with more output power. Ideally the new device not had to only feed power back into the grid but should also be able to act as sink and source. There were also various safety-related specifications  – in particular regarding discharging the 85F and 165F Super Caps used, in the event of a fault (these had to discharge safely even after activating the external emergency stop, since the plant is voltage-free).

The Solution

For the “men of action” at Schulz-Electronic a good, target-oriented relationship with the customer is very important. So that we would be able to offer our customer the right solution, we paid a visit to the responsible people on the spot. At this appointment our specialists already presented a concrete solution that met their requirements, thus saving the customer valuable time. The specially developed solution: a TC.GSS.20.65.400.S with rack, as a compact, high-performance battery simulation for 48 Vdc.
